Poison
Wiki
Type:
Poison is a status effect arising from stepping on Sea Urchins or consuming toxic, typically uncooked, foods. Poison causes 0.075% damage to Health, Hunger, and Thirst per second. This can be stopped by consuming Antidote.

Poison is one of the Status Effects on the player in the world of Stranded Deep.

Summary

Poison is a status effect that is caused by coming into contact with creatures such as Lionfish, Crown of Thorns Starfish or Sea Urchins. You can easily tell when you've been poisoned, as a message will appear saying that the player "feels ill". The player's vision will become green, tinged, and numerous boils and rashes will appear on their arm. The player will slowly lose health when poisoned, and if untreated, will die in a few days.

What can poison players

Night Snake
Snake
Night Snakes can be found exploring or hiding within Island vegetation. Snakes are usually passive, attempting to always avoid or run away from you. If you become within the Snakes proximity it will hold its ground, rearing its head, making a warning rattle noise. Due to the snakes camouflage they can be extremely hard to spot, listening for the warning rattle is vital for survival. The biggest threat from Night Snakes is the Poison effect inflicted when bitten. Snakes can easily be killed due to their low health with a projectile, but if it is not killed with the first shot it will charge toward the attacker. 75 Damage points

Cure

The only way to treat Poison is by consuming Antidote, which is crafted using pipi. You can obtain pipi inside bunches small green plants on the ground or by farming.

Note: There use to be antibiotics which were found in crates, however these were removed and replaced with craft-able antidote. Also you must be crafting level 3 before you can craft the antidote.

Tips

  • Getting poisoned at the start of the game can make it very difficult to continue. Consider reloading if this occurs.
  • While you have the poisoned status effect, you won't become stacked with "even more poisoning" if you are affected by other poison sources. There's only one "poisoned" effect. However, night snakes can still cause regular damage to you with their attacks.
  • It is recommended to have at least two pipi farms at all times. This will provide the player with enough antidotes in case of poisons.
  • Crown of thorns starfish are probably the most common way to be poisoned, as they can be around your base if it is on the beach. Be mindful of where they are, or places an object like a leaf or tyre over this as a reminded. They also move, keep this in mind.
  • Save regularly, if you get poisoned you can reload.
  • When mining clay deposits, it is quite easy to get poisoned by sea snakes, sea urchins, and lion fish. Be mindful of your surroundings.
  • If you wish to make shark repellent, make sure you don't touch the lion fish after you spear them. Carry the ingredients with you. Once the lion fish has been speared, craft the shark repellent straight way which in the water.
